Then this question comes in over the web:
"Is there an image you'd like me to carry for you?"

Some words on
"the Examen":
St. Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the Jesuits, encouraged his community members to engage in a prayer practice of examining their consciences through an examination of their daily lives. His practice included asking questions and identifying moments where one was more centered on God’s love and where one fell short. Over time, what is being observed and discerned has been reframed by spiritual writers and practitioners. Always, it is a process of looking for God in daily life and the world in order to love others well. One reframing I like is to identify moments of consolation and desolation in the day. This book is a collection of such moments.
